A Short Tutorial on Gradient Lines
I thought some people might want to know how to make gradients on line art and such. It's very easy in Paintshop and can probably be done in Photoshop easily too.
1- first of all you need a clean picture with a white background, if it has shadows cast on it the effect will not be so good
2- next you need to make a new layer above your lines
3- select the 2 "extreme" colours you want for your gradient. I picked blue and pink
4- go into material properties (just click the foreground box)
5- go into gradients and look for the foreground-background gradient, play around with the angle to get the effect you want
6- fill the picture with the gradient!
7- obviously you cannot see you picture, so here is the magic step: go into the layer toolbar and scroll along to where it says "normal" on your new layer
8- change this to "overlay"
9- you can also use the settings "lighten", "colour", "screen" and "soft light", but I find "overlay" works best
10- "burn" gives it a very grungey look but I've yet to find a use for it
Well I hope you found that useful. I'll have a go at doing an example of this, because it makes even crappy pictures look prettier. xD
